This simple looking commercial has some interesting things under the hood. Payconiq wanted a 2D visual style but we decided it would be beter to do it in 3D. And of course keep the 2D look the client wanted. So we made the hand and the smartphone in 3D, then rendered it out with a 2D shader and animated all the other elements in 2D. This gave us the flexibility we needed for the hand animation without loosing the Payconiq look.

We decided to make a 3D hand to have enough flexibility in the transitions from one object to an other. This is a a preview render of the 3D hand with 2D shading.
The hand was animated in 3D with a placeholder image for every object. We then rendered the hand and animated the objects in 2D.
